Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) was born into the noble Quraish tribe of Mecca and belonged to the distinguished Banu Asad clan. She was known for her wisdom, integrity, and successful business acumen. Due to her honesty and leadership in trade, she was given the title "Tahirah" (The Pure One).

Despite living in a male-dominated society, she was a prosperous merchant who managed large caravans. She was highly respected for her generosity and kindness, often helping the poor and needy.

Marriage to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) first came to know about Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when she hired him to oversee her trade. Impressed by his honesty, trustworthiness, and noble character, she proposed marriage to him through a trusted friend.

At the time of their marriage, Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) was 40 years old, and Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was 25. Their marriage was one of love, respect, and partnership. She remained his sole wife for 25 years, and he never married another woman during her lifetime.

Her Role in the Early Days of Islam

When Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) received the first revelation in the Cave of Hira, he returned home in a state of fear and uncertainty. Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) comforted and reassured him, expressing her firm belief in his truthfulness. She became the first person to accept Islam and remained his greatest supporter.

Her contributions included:

• Moral and Emotional Support – She consoled and encouraged the Prophet (ﷺ) in difficult times.
• Financial Sacrifices – She spent her wealth for the propagation of Islam and helped Muslims in times of hardship.

Her Children and Descendants

Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) and Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) were blessed with several children, including:

• Hazrat Fatima (رضی اللہ عنہا) – The beloved daughter of the Prophet (ﷺ) and mother of Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain.
• Hazrat Qasim and Abdullah (رضی اللہ عنہما) – Sons who passed away in infancy.

The Passing of Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا)

Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) passed away in the 10th year of Prophethood, at the age of 65. Her death was a great loss for Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and that year became known as "Aam-ul-Huzn" (The Year of Sorrow).

She was buried in Jannat al-Mu'alla, the famous cemetery in Mecca.
