His Recognition of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) Greatness
"و أبيض يستسقى الغمام بوجهه
ثمال اليتامى عصمة للأرامل"
Translation:
"He is the bright-faced one; through his face, rain is sought,
A refuge for orphans, a protector for widows."
This verse beautifully reflects how Hazrat Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ) saw the Prophet (ﷺ) as a source of mercy and blessings for all people.
His Unwavering Support for the Prophet (ﷺ)
"والله لن يصلوا إليك بجمعهم
حتى أوسد في التراب دفينا"
Translation:
"By Allah! They will never reach you with all their forces,
Until I am buried in the ground."

"Indeed, they know that our son is not a liar,

The Boycott of Banu Hashim and His Sacrifices
One of the most challenging periods for Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ) and his family was the Quraysh-imposed social and economic boycott of Banu Hashim. For three years, they were forced to live in extreme hardship in a valley known as Shiab Abi Talib.
Despite the suffering, Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ) never wavered in his support. He even took extreme measures to ensure the Prophet’s (ﷺ) safety, often making him sleep in different locations to protect him from potential assassinations.
The Passing of Hazrat Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ)
In the 10th year of Prophethood, Hazrat Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ) fell seriously ill. The Quraysh saw this as an opportunity to pressure Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), but even on his deathbed, Abu Talib (رضی اللہ عنہ) remained a strong protector.
His death was a devastating loss for the Prophet (ﷺ), as he lost not just an uncle but a father figure and his greatest protector. The same year, Hazrat Khadija (رضی اللہ عنہا) also passed away, marking the "Year of Sorrow" (Aam-ul-Huzn).
