Who Was Hazrat Amina bint Wahb?

Hazrat Amina (رضی اللہ عنہا) was born into the respected Banu Zuhrah clan of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. She was known for her noble lineage, intelligence, and virtuous character. She was married to Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, a nobleman of Quraysh, and soon after their marriage, she conceived Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). However, Abdullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) passed away before the Prophet’s birth, leaving Amina (رضی اللہ عنہا) as a widow.

The Birth and Early Years of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

She nurtured and cared for him during his infancy, ensuring he was raised with love, purity, and wisdom.

In accordance with Arab traditions, she entrusted him to a wet nurse, Hazrat Halima Sa’diyah (رضی اللہ عنہا), who cared for him in the desert for the first few years of his life.

The Passing of Hazrat Amina (رضی اللہ عنہا)

When Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was six years old, Hazrat Amina (رضی اللہ عنہا) took him on a journey to Yathrib (later Medina) to visit his maternal relatives. On their return to Mecca, she fell seriously ill and passed away in Al-Abwa, a village between Mecca and Medina. Her death left the young Prophet (ﷺ) orphaned, but he was soon taken into the care of his grandfather Abdul Muttalib, and later his uncle Abu Talib.
